Saturday, October 22, and Monday, October 31

The Revue is pleased to present an exclusive screening of the remastered 1979 classic, Zombie. It made director Lucio Fulci a horror icon and spawned a new Italian genre featuring the flesh-eating undead: Saturday, October 22, at 11:30 p.m., and on Halloween night, Monday, October 31, at 9:30 p.m. Also for an extra creepy Halloween, The Exorcist: The Director’s Cut, in 35mm, at 7 p.m. Visit revuecinema.ca in October for details.

The Book Revue continues the thrills and chills with Rosemary’s Baby, based on Ira Levin’s best-selling novel. Roman Polanski wrote and directed this 1968 horror classic about Satanism in a New York apartment building. $12 for non-members; $10 for members and seniors.  Screening, discussion, prizes.

Don't miss this free screening. Critic, journalist, lecturer and host Chris Alexander is outstanding, with his encyclopedic knowledge, fluent delivery, humour, impressive guest lists, plus his offbeat taste for horror, cult, fantasy and other genres. Next event: David Cronenberg’s first feature in 35mm, the 1975 film Shivers. Always lots of giveaways. Guests to be announced soon.

Silent Sundays
Sunday, October 30, 4:00 p.m.

Journalist and film collector Eric Veillette introduces another silent selection, The Cat and the Canary, just in time for Halloween. Laura Silberberg provides live piano accompaniment for this 1927 film, that’s moody, mysterious and dare we say funny? $12 non-members; $10 members and seniors; $7 for kids.  

October Film Fests

The Toronto Polish Film Festival, EKRAN, returns to The Revue for a weekend run, Friday through Sunday, October 21-23. On the schedule, nine sessions, including features, shorts, animation, with special guests. (Visit ekran.ca for details.)

We’re promising a sweet evening on the topic of honey. The film: Colony, a recent documentary about bees and colony collapse syndrome. Our guest: local beekeeper Fred Davis, with his apiarist paraphernalia, plus honey samples for tasting seasonal differences. Enjoy free samples, as well, featuring honey from local restaurants.
