The films are hot, but the Revue’s AC will be cranked for the films in this summer’s Heat Wave lineup.

Heat Wave at the Revue Cinema, a lineup of the greatest summer movies ever made, kicks off on the first night of summer with the cult Hitchcock classic REAR WINDOW with an introduction by Nightmare Alley curator, STEVEN LANDRY!

IT ONLY TAKES ONE WITNESS TO SPOIL THE PERFECT CRIME

A wheelchair-bound photographer (James Stewart) spies on his neighbours from his apartment window and becomes convinced one of them has committed murder.

The Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, makes voyeurs of us all as we join with our protagonist as he spies across the shared courtyard of his apartment at his neighbours, their curtains and windows wide open to cope with a New York City heatwave. Many of Hitchcock’s films indulged in the voyeuristic tendencies of the audience, but never with as much skill and winking self-awareness as he accomplishes here. Given our recent collective experience with isolation during the COVID lockdown, REAR WINDOW may strike an even stronger chord than ever before. – Steven Landry
