MYSTIC PIZZA (1988)
USA 1988 104min. 14A
Directed by Donald Petrie
Starring Annabeth Gish, Lili Taylor, Julia Roberts
It’s the summer after high school and Daisy, Kat, and JoJo (played by Julia Roberts, Annabeth Gish, and Lili Taylor) are attempting to figure out their paths in life. Do they go to college? Do they get married? Do they fall in love with the rebel, stick with the boy-next-door, or pursue a hopeless relationship with their employer?
Each girl juggles her own ambitions in this coming-of-age story set in the Portuguese-American town of Mystic, Connecticut. What holds them together, though, is their love of working at Mystic Pizza — a pizzeria with a secret sauce that attracts the attention of a notable food critic. More than a mere part-time job, Mystic Pizza becomes the space where adolescence transforms into adulthood.

Partnering with us for this film is Village Pizza —a casual pizzeria that serves whole pies, slices, and beer. With two locations (one at Bloor/Dovercourt, and the other at Dundas/Bathurst), Village Pizza is a West-end institution that comforts and satisfies.
