Summer in the city. A bored photographer. A heat wave. A murder in a Greenwich Village apartment.

In this Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece, a crime may have been committed. Photojournalist L.B. Jeffries is confined to a wheelchair overlooking his apartment courtyard. As the barometer rises he has nothing to do but watch the comings, goings and lives of his neighbours. When Jeff suspects there’s been foul play across the courtyard, he enlists the sleuthing help of his intrepid girlfriend Lisa (Grace Kelly) and physical therapist Stella (Thelma Ritter). What follows is a murder mystery, love story and voyeuristic exercise that creates a journey of suspense critics have called ‘the purest expression of a cinematic idea.
