REVUE CINEMA PRESENTS - CRY BABY - MINI-SERIES TRAILER from Nathan Boone on Vimeo.

Hillary (Barbara Hershey) and CC (Bette Midler) meet as children vacationing in Atlantic City, N.J., and remain friends throughout the decades. As CC, a loud New Yorker, pursues a singing career, Hillary, a staid Californian, becomes a successful lawyer. Over the years, they often quarrel or compete, but, as other relationships flourish and die, the two women are always there for each other, traveling from coast to coast through the most tumultuous times.

DETAILS

Curated and hosted by Danita Steinberg, Cry Baby is a mini-series featuring three classic tearjerkers: The Bridges of Madison County (1995), Beaches (1988), and On Golden Pond (1981). This summer (in the safe, sacred space that is the Revue Cinema), we’re feeling our feelings about love, friendship, and family!

PRESENTED ON 35MM! 35TH ANNIVERSARY SCREENING!

On July 12, grab your bestie (a.k.a The Wind Beneath Your Wings) and some tissues for a special 35th-anniversary screening of Beaches (1988), directed by Garry Marshall and presented on 35MM.

While vacationing with her family in Atlantic City, prim and proper Hillary (Marcie Leeds) meets brash and rambunctious CeeCee (Mayim Bialik). Both 11 years old, the two become fast friends and promise to keep in touch. After years of letter writing, they finally reunite in their 20s when Hillary (Barbara Hershey) decides to leave California to join CeeCee (Bette Midler) in New York City. As they begin to drift apart, they struggle to see eye-to-eye on everything from careers to relationships, resulting in a temporary friendship break. When they finally make amends, Hillary and CeeCee come back together stronger than ever, remaining by each other’s side through the rest of life’s ups and downs.

In the 35 years since its release, Beaches has remained the ultimate friendship film, continuing to capture the hearts of BFFs everywhere with its reminder that best friends can be soulmates, too.
