In order to help her smuggler kinsmen, a sultry gypsy seduces and corrupts an officer of the Civil Guard turning him into a traitor and murderer.

While our regular Silent Revue series takes a break over the summer months, we visit the connected worlds of opera and silent film. Mezzo-Soprano Cassandra Warner, who thrilled and dazzled Revue audiences in 2017 with arias from La Boheme, returns to grace our brand new stage, this time performing select arias from Bizet’s Carmen.

Director: Cecil B. DeMille
Cast: Geraldine Farrar, Wallace Reid, Pedro de Cordoba

Warner will discuss the opera, followed by a screening of Cecil B. De Mille’s 1915 adaption of Carmen (65min.), starring Geraldine Farrar and Wallace Reid.

Warner’s performance and the film will be accompanied by William O’Meara at the piano.
