The life of pioneering singer Chavela Vargas, from her birth in Costa Rica in 1919 to her death in Mexico in 2012.


The film, a 2017 Hot Docs favourite, is an affectionate portrayal of Chavela, the charismatic musical artist who charmed audiences with her unique interpretation of Mexican. A benefit for Patronato Pro Nonis, a project partner of Amistad Canada, which provides dental, medical and psychological services for children in rural Mexico.
