DETAILS

TORONTO PREMIERE!

With Director/Star Mickey Reece in person!

Set in 1994, COUNTRY GOLD stars Reece as Troyal Brux, an up-and-coming country music superstar who is invited by country music legend George Jones (Ben Hall) for a night on the town in Nashville – the night before George is to be cryogenically frozen.

If you, like me, have a mild obsession with the Garth Brooks/Chris Gaines 1999 VH1’s Behind the Music” Special and the podcast Cocaine & Rhinestones and have a taste for the strange, then holy moly friends, this movie is for you.

Prolific Oklahoma-based director Mickey Reece (AGNES, CLIMATE OF THE HUNTER, MICKEY REECE’S ALIEN) has been called “one of the DIY indie world’s best-kept secrets” by RogerEbert.com and delivers another surreal genre-bender with COUNTRY GOLD, which is executive produced by former Blumhouse and Divide/Conquer alum Zac Locke and Peter Kuplowsky, who Toronto cult movie fans will know as programmer for TIFF’s Midnight Madness, the WTFilm Fest, the Laserblast Film Society, and producer of PSYCHO GOREMAN.

Stompbox is honoured to be hosting the Toronto premiere of COUNTRY GOLD at the Revue Cinema, immediately following its World Premiere at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal!  – DAVID BERTRAND
