DETAILS
Co-starring local heroine Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed picks up shortly after the first film’s tragic ending. Written by Megan Martin (TV’s The Following) based on the characters created by Karen Walton and John Fawcett, this no-holds-barred sequel follows surviving Fitzgerald sister Brigitte (the always amazing Emily Perkins, also of the 1990 It miniseries fame) as she fights the growing urge to wolf out while in a teen rehab facility. In addition to a newfound addiction to monkshood (said to delay lycanthropic transformations), Brigitte is haunted by visions of her late sister (Katharine Isabelle returning as the titular Ginger).
Monstrously femme (just like its predecessor), Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed is a bloody blend of grieving, growing and queer-coding. Think Jennifer’s Body (2009), but if the whole movie centred on Needy being locked up and struggling to contain her powers.
