NORWAY | 2015 | 55 min | STC

This documentary follows Syrian refugees making the perilous journey from the Middle East to Europe.

More and more refugee claimants are walking into Canada from the United States. They take this arduous journey because they feel increasingly threatened in the USA and because the alternatives
they face might be isolation, incarceration, or deportation. Who are they, where are they coming from, what should we be doing? Why should you care?

Director: George Kurian
Cast: Nabil Hilaneh, Angela Al Souliman, Rami Aramouni

This screening is in support of Manitoba Interfaith Immigration Council (MIIC), the largest refugee settlement agency in Canada.

Followed by recent, local Canadian footage, and a conversation exploring the concepts of home, refugee realities, and safety in changing times. Our panel will highlight the limitations of the current Third Safe Country Agreement and the challenges in implementing a sanctuary city policy in Winnipeg.

All proceeds donated to MIIC. Charitable receipts are available.
