(NOT-SO) TERRIBLE TWOS is a new in-house series at The Revue exploring overlooked sequels to hit films that deserve the big-screen treatment!
JAWS 2 gets a bad rep and is unfairly judged for being just as bad as the following sequels: JAWS 3-D and JAWS: THE REVENGE. In all fairness, it’s easy to judge this movie for being severely inferior to its masterful predecessor — however JAWS 2 is one of the most underrated and highly entertaining sequels to a mainstream cult classic.
For one, JAWS II is an overlooked B-slasher movie that even predates HALLOWEEN and FRIDAY THE 13th and although Richard Dreyfuss is sorely missed in this sequel, the audience still gets Chief Brody and all of the rest of the surviving characters we love or love to hate…(looking at you Mayor Vaughn!)
So instead of watching JAWS, we ask you to break tradition and give JAWS II a chance and watch it the way it deserves to watched — on the BIG SCREEN! – SERENA WHITNEY
