Neon Dreams is a Toronto, ON based film series bringing you the best in delightfully surreal neo-noir cinema from the ’70s, ’80s, and beyond. PAST (more…)

If one film had the power to unleash your inner anarchist and compel you to contemplate setting a cop car on fire as you leave the cinema, Over The Edge would be that one. A red hot dose of pure teensploitation cinema that perfectly pairs the grindhouse sensibility of director Jonathan Kaplan (Truck Turner) with the youth-in-revolt energy of writer Tim Hunter (River’s Edge). Over The Edge is a literal blast that is best described as Dazed And Confused meets Assault On Precinct 13.

Baby-faced (and mesh t-shirt sporting) Matt Dillon leads a phenomenal and raw teenage cast through the fictional “New Granada”—a dumpy Anytown, USA, designed by its residents explicitly to keep their kids out of trouble. After one unforgivable moment of ACAB brutality, the pent-up teens retaliate against the offending adults with results that are simultaneously violent, romantic, and batshit crazy. Set to a rousing 70s soundtrack featuring Cheap Trick, The Cars, Jimi Hendrix, and many more, Over The Edge is sure to be the most cathartic film you see all summer.. or at least until the next Neon Dreams screening in July!

This screening and others are made possible thanks to our wonderful sponsor Hollywood Suite.
