Synopsis
Rod Kimbel (Andy Samberg) is a wannabe Evel Knievel. When his stepfather (Ian McShane) whom he has a strained relationship with gets a possibly fatal diagnosis, Rod plans a daring stunt to raise money for his treatment. Will making the jump be worth it?

Coming out of the late aughties Saturday Night Live and The Lonely Island trio is a stunt comedy the likes of Super Dave, with the friendship of Jackass, and the romance of The Wedding Singer and is totally charming. Every player is committed to this world that is innocent and endearing on the edge of absurd. HOT ROD has a carefree sensibility and seems to not fit into a specific time. Are you basking in the 70s, 80s or the 90s and all of this adds to a kind of sweet nostalgia and acts as love letter to the films that this Lonely Island troop watched in their formidable years.
