A fleeing gangland flunky (Michael Moriarty) finds the New York nest of Aztec deity Quetzalcoatl, the man-eating flying serpent.
Director: Larry Cohen
Cast: Michael Moriarty, Candy Clark, David Carradine
NYPD detectives Shepard and Powell are working on a bizarre case of a ritualistic Aztec murder. Meanwhile, something big is attacking the people of New York and only greedy small-time crook Jimmy Quinn knows where its lair is.
Nightmare Alley patron saint Larry Cohen (GOD TOLD ME TO, THE STUFF) returns to the Revue with a good old-fashioned monster movie, featuring one of the greatest chaotic performances of all time by Michael Moriarty.
Sure, the giant stop-motion monster looks a little rubbery, but the film rises above its limited budget by finding the perfect balance of playing it straight while maintaining a wicked sense of humour. Q has everything you’d want in a Cohen joint: Sleazy NYC criminals! Decapitations! Michael Moriarty playing piano! This is the definition of a fun time at the movies! (STEVEN LANDRY)
