Fans of MANDY will appreciate master of modern neo-noir John Dahl’s (THE LAST SEDUCTION, JOY RIDE) erotic southern-fried crime flick RED ROCK WEST.
Cage plays an unemployed drifter who, after answering in the affirmative to a stranger asking “…are you here for the job,” is mistaken for the hitman hired to kill a wealthy man’s wife (Lara Flynn Boyle). When the real hitman (Dennis Hopper) shows up, complications ensue. Destined for direct-to-video until a fateful TIFF screening garnered much praise and a 4-star review from Roger Ebert, RED ROCK WEST inspired a small indie-led theatrical campaign leading to its eventual critical reappraisal.
