DETAILS
High school love triangles are the worst but John Hughes – king of Eighties teen angst – makes them the best kind of worst. This love triangle about popular senior Amanda (Lea Thompson) and childhood best friends Keith (Eric Stoltz) and Watts (Mary Stuart Masterson) dealing with insecurity and rejection while figuring out who they are is an underrated gem of the Hughes canon. Best kiss. Best indie soundtrack. Best heroine. Those iconic red fringed gloves! Hughes collaborator and costume designer Marilyn Vance (also of Ferris Bueller, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink) created the definitive 80s tomboy wardrobe. – NATHALIE ATKINSON
