This PRIDE season, join Dumpster Raccoon Cinema for a wild multi-performer CABARET SPECTACULAR celebrating the queer film classic that killed the Hays Code, Billy Wilder’s SOME LIKE IT HOT (1959)!!

On the run from deadly prohibition-era mobsters, jazz musicians Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon) disguise themselves as “Josephine” and “Daphne”, members of an all-women band fronted by singing sensation Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe). As hijinks ensue and the gangster threat escalates (and Marilyn Monroe lights the screen ablaze), both our heroes must come to terms with confounding gender politics and unexpectedly queered desires!

A major watershed in the death of the Production Code and a first salvo in the dawning sexual revolution of the sixties, SOME LIKE IT HOT (1959) remains an important touchstone in Hollywood’s queer history, celebrating and experimenting with drag, gender, and the dismantling of creaky sexual mores. And it’s damn funny!

Join Dumpster Raccoon Cinema’s rowdy queer audience and host Anthony Oliveira for this special Pride presentation, featuring a cavalcade of cabaret performances from some of the brightest stars on Toronto’s performance scene, generously sponsored by Hollywood Suite!
