A gangster, a crooked banker, a hitman and an arab terrorist are stranded and on the run in a small village in South America. Their only chance of escape is to drive two trucks filled with unstable nitroglycerin up a long and rocky mountain road in order to plug an escalating oil refinery blaze. With their deadly cargo likely to explode at the slightest bump, the four men must put aside their differences and work together to survive.

DETAILS
What better way to cure (or at least temporarily suspend) the winter blues than with a sweat-filled, white-knuckle thriller set to a pulsing soundtrack by synth legends Tangerine Dream? Neon Dreams proudly presents a one-night-only screening of Sorcerer—William Friedkin’s 1977 magnum opus in a new restoration supervised by the man himself.
In his much-anticipated follow-up to The Exorcist, Friedkin applied his uncompromising vision and take-no-prisoners approach to his dream project—a remake of Henri-Georges Clouzot’s The Wages of Fear. Four desperate outcasts with various checkered backgrounds trek to a South American village to gamble their lives for the gig of a lifetime: transporting cargo of faulty dynamite that is so unstable it is ‘sweating’ nitroglycerin in exchange for enough money to escape their personal hell—if they make it to their destination in one piece.
Despite its critical and commercial failure at the time (or perhaps because of it) Friedkin maintains that Sorcerer is his greatest achievement as a director, and one that is now regarded as a cult classic that creates a theatrical experience so intense that we can pretty much guarantee any person walking into the cinema will not be the same person who walks out. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. – BRENDAN ROSS
