Tchaikosvky’s Swan Lake

England | 2018 | 180 min | G

This new production features additional choreography by Liam Scarlett and designs by John Macfarlane.

Prince Siegfried chances upon a flock of swans while out hunting. When one of the swans turns into a beautiful woman, Odette, he is enraptured. But she is under a spell that holds her captive, allowing her to regain her human form only at night. “It is far from a radical reinvention – the setting and choreography stay close to the 19th-century original – yet it stands out from so many other Swan Lakes in its attention to dramatic detail. The climactic pas de deux deserves a review in itself, as does all the superlative dancing from the production’s opening cast.” – Judith Makrell, The Guardian
