John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) summons chaos theorist Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) to his home with some startling information — while nearly everything at his Jurassic Park had been destroyed, his engineers happened to have a second site, where other dinosaurs were kept in hiding. It seems the dinosaurs on the second island are alive and well and even breeding; and Hammond wants Malcolm to observe and document the reptiles before Hammond’s financiers can get to them.

ABOUT THE NOT-SO TERRIBLE TWOS SERIES
DETAILS
SOMETHING HAS SURVIVED.
Four years after JURASSIC PARK wowed the world in 1993, it was safe to say that THE LOST WORLD was one of the most anticipated blockbuster sequels of all-time in 1997. Initially the film disappointed many fans of the original film and left fans of Michael Crichton’s novel extremely bewildered for how vastly different its adaptation was.
However, after numerous and inferior sequels to the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World franchise, it has become clear that THE LOST WORLD is not THE BLACK SHEEP we all claimed it to be in 1997.
Although there is no forgiving the out-of-left-field “T-Rex In San Diego Incident,” Steven Spielberg’s sequel is easily the darkest film in the franchise that also features thrilling set-pieces and most importantly, Jeff Goldblum front and center as the next great action star.
This rarely screened sequel is overdue for a revisit on the big screen! – SERENA WHITNEY (Programming Director)
