Uncle Buck

USA | 1989 | 100 min | PG

Summer of 89 continues at Throwback Cinema with everyone’s favourite relative, Uncle Buck.

When a family emergency calls the parents of Tia, Miles, and Mazy away, their father enlists the help of his no-good, gambling, hard-living brother Buck to watch the children. Buck, trying to avoid the mounting pressures of his girlfriend to get a real job and get married, jumps at the opportunity to get away to Chicago for some easy babysitting. But things are not as easy as it seems: Buck knows nothing about children, and the kids don’t respect him. Can Buck get it together for his nieces and nephew, or will the parents return to find calamity? Uncle Buck is a cheerful and cheeky family movie directed by John Hughes and starring Canadian comedic genius John Candy, so why not put down that cigar and join the Revue family for our screening on Saturday, July 13th at 1:00 PM? –CRYSTAL MADORE
