DETAILS

Join us at The Revue for a 30th Anniversary Screening of the ground-breaking biopic of the late and great Tina Turner — presented on 35mm!

Based off Tina Turner’s 1986 autobiography I, Tina, WHAT’S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT is a powerful and harrowing biographical film about Tina Turner’s rapid rise to stardom and how she gained the courage to break free from her abusive husband, Ike Turner after sixteen years of marriage.

Angela Bassett delivers a powerhouse performance as the late and great singer and her portrayal of Tina Turner is so moving, that it is often noted as one of the biggest Oscar snubs of all-time.

What was originally planned as a 30th Anniversary Screening has now sadly turned into a tribute screening and although the subject matter of this biopic is challenging to witness at times, it also showcases how Tina Turner was an icon of Resilience who fought for her sound, her name and her freedom. In spite of the biopic’s glossy Hollywood treatment, Turner’s story shows the strength of survivors and it also showcases how she refused to be defined by abuse. In short, she was simply the best.
