What a great evening at the Revue Cinema last night. I was looking forward to seeing The Thin Man, a film made in the 30’s and one I’d never seen.
To my surprise the theatre was almost sold out and no wonder. A woman who has studied the history of alcohol give us the background on prohibition and its eventual repeal in the U.S. ( At the time booze consumption was about 3 times what it is today ). She went on to describe the role drinks played in the movie. It was a rare moment when Nick and Nora didn’t have a glass in their hands.
The movie itself was a real treat. Great dialogue and snappy repartee provided a super story and lots of laughs.
All told, an evening that exceeded expectations!
