Ratings

At the Revue, we take film ratings seriously. It is not just a matter of law — we see it as being a good neighbour.

Here are the five basic film ratings currently in use in Ontario:

Films with this rating are appropriate for viewers of all ages.
Parental guidance advised. Content or theme may not be appropriate for all children, especially very young children.
Deemed suitable for older children. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult (over 18). This rating is perhaps the most confusing: a 12-year-old cannot be admitted if accompanied only by a 16-year-old, even though the 16-year-old may see the film. Films with this rating may contain violence, coarse language, and sexually suggestive content.
Deemed suitable for adult viewing. Persons under 18 must be accompanied by an adult (over 18). Films with this rating may include explicit violence, coarse language, sexual activity and horror.
Persons under 18 are not admitted. Content is deemed unsuitable for minors. Films with this rating may contain brutal violence, intense horror, disturbing content and frequent sexual activity.
