Away We Go
2009 (Sam Mendes) 14A, 97 min
Starring: John Krasinski, Maya Rudolf
A bit goofy, a little loopy and a whole lot of heart describe this post-Juno road movie for grownups. Scared to death about their impending parenthood, thirty-somethings Burt (The Office’s John Krasinski) and Verona (Maya Rudolf of SNL) set out to find the perfect place to raise their baby. So away they go across North America, visiting cities from Phoenix to Montreal, looking up old friends at each stop. Hmmm… maybe that wasn’t such a good idea after all. In an ever-widening circle of parents-from-hell, dysfunctional friends, offbeat travel tales, and borderline mayhem, it may be that their quest will end when the kid is ready for college. Oscar winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road) brings a caring directorial touch to this sweet, off-centre comedy trip. So where do Burt and Verona finally put down roots? Home is where the heart is.
