On her wedding day Susan Murphy (Witherspoon) is hit by a radioactive meteorite from space that transforms her into a 50-foot giant. Captured and sent to a secret government compound, Susan joins a motley crew of other monsters rounded up over the years, like B.O.B. (Rogen), a funny and sweet brainless blob. But these monsters are soon called on to fight for the planet’s freedom when it is invaded by a giant alien robot. The Toronto Star writes, “This film has hidden depths, especially for adults who mistakenly think Monsters vs. Aliens is only for kids.” Oh, and woohoo for more female superheroes, monster or otherwise.
