This Pride Month, crawl out of your coffin and join We Really Like Her! for an afternoon screening of 1994’s Interview with the Vampire.

This big screen adaptation of Anne Rice’s beloved novel begins as an unsuspecting journalist (Christian Slater as Daniel Molloy) agrees to listen to the mysterious Louis de Pointe du Lac (Brad Pitt) retell his life story. According to Louis, a charismatic stranger named Lestat de Lioncourt (Tom Cruise) “made him” a creature of the night in the 1700s. What follows is a gripping (and often graphic) recollection of love, loss, and learning to love your adopted daughter.

Although it was directed by Neil Jordan, the Interview with the Vampire screenplay was penned by Rice herself and, quite frankly, it shows. Maintaining the original text’s queerness and grotesque theatrics, this cult classic set the stage for countless gothic romance films to come (not to mention the killer AMC series).

Long story short: come for the homoerotic longing, stay for Kirsten Dunst in bloodthirsty brat mode! (EMILY GAGNE & DANITA STEINBERG)
