Join Dumpster Raccoon Cinema for a SPECIAL SUNDAY SCREENING as it goes to church as only we can – with the foul-mouthed flick condemned as blasphemy and lost for over 25 years, Kevin Smith’s DOGMA (1999)!

Two fallen angels (Matt Damon and Ben Affleck) have been tipped off to a scheme to regain their seats in Heaven, exploiting the Catholic Church’s latest PR attempt (masterminded by Cardinal Glick – George Carlin) to grant plenary indulgences to circumvent God’s will – not realizing such an act would negate reality itself. It’s up to Jesus’s last descendant (Linda Fiorentino), the 13th disciple (Chris Rock), the angel Metatron (Alan Rickman) and two prophets (Jay and Silent Bob!) to save all of creation – and swear a lot doing it!

Released to an outcry of indignation and condemnation by organized Catholic scolds, DOGMA was nevertheless celebrated as Smith’s most mature and thoughtful work (still chockful of sex jokes) as it challenged ideas of faith and justice – but then, embroiled in rights issues, it vanished for decades, held as financial collateral amid executive producer Harvey Weinstein’s legal sentencing – as Kevin Smith himself put it, lamentingly, “my movie about angels is owned by the devil himself.”

Now, FINALLY, the movie is FREE FROM PURGATORY, and after 25 years we can all see it again, back on the big screen, filthy and juvenile and weirdly sad as ever! So come join us as light the candles, dust off the chalices, and get ready for SUNDAY SERVICE! (ANTHONY OLIVEIRA)
