Neon Dreams is thrilled to present the brand new 4K restoration of The Coen Brothers’ No Country For Old Men. An sinister hybrid of sun-baked neo-noir western, and potent meditation on aging in an ever-changing world.
West Texas, 1980. A drug deal gone wrong. $2 million in cash. A Vietnam vet. An evil-incarnate hitman. And an aging sheriff at the centre of it all. While “wrong place, wrong time” crime thrillers are not exactly uncharted territory for The Coens, the impeccable collision of their sensibilities with Cormac McCarthy’s prose creates something tense, horrifying, mysterious, darkly comic, and completely unique.
This restoration was supervised by director of photography Roger Deakins, and struck from the original 35mm negative for a visually stunning and audibly riveting experience. Go ahead. Call it.
