30th Anniversary Screening! NEW 4K RESTORATION!
Based on the 1993 novel by Irvine Welsh, Trainspotting is a brilliantly acted, visually stunning, often humorous, and sometimes terrifying 90’s classic. The film premiered in 1996 and upon release received both critical and financial success. Directed by Danny Boyle and starring Ewen McGregor the movie is often considered one of the best of the decade.
The plot follows Renton played by McGregor as he tries to pull himself away from the Edinburg drug scene, but keeps getting pulled back in. Director Danny Boyle uses voiceovers, fast past editing, freeze frames, crazy camera angles, bright colours and trippy visuals to bring the audience into the world of the heroin user.
Everything is brought together by a superb soundtrack that features punk, Britpop and techno dance music.
2026 marks the 30th anniversary of this 90’s masterpiece so come out and celebrate when Psych-Out Cinema presents Trainspotting at The Revue Cinema. (TERRY O’FLAHERTY)
