“a nonstop barrage of turbocharged set pieces that defy death, logic, and gravity itself.” -Criterion
A ragtag group of Asian American prisoners are offered pardons, US citizenship, and $200,000 dollars in exchange for carrying out a secret operation in the dangerous jungles of Vietnam. Their mission should they choose to accept, is to prevent a cache of American weapons left behind in a hidden bunker from falling into the hands of the Viet Cong.
Legendary actor & director Sammo Hung abandons his trademark kung fu comedy for a shockingly bleak take on the Hollywood “men on a mission” film like THE DIRTY DOZEN. Like many of Hung’s films, EASTERN CONDORS features a dynamic ensemble cast of Hong Kong action heavy-weights including Yuen Biao sporting a proto-emo haircut and a giggling Yuen Wah as the final boss. Even action choreographers like Yuen Woo-Ping and the late Corey Yuen get in on the fun! (BRANDON LIM)
