Black Belt Cinema’s first Jackie Chan screening!
Chef Jackie, host of a popular cooking show in Melbourne, accidentally gets mixed up with a news reporter on the run from drug lord Giancarlo and his cocaine-dealing thugs. Diana and her reporting partner have evidence of a drug deal gone wrong with The Demons gang, but the VHS tape it’s on gets misplaced with one of Jackie’s after he helps escape her from the gangsters in pursuit of it. When Jackie’s girlfriend Miki is kidnapped, he seeks help from his police detective friend Romeo and teams up with Diana to help save her and expose Giancarlo’s murderous deeds.
Shot in Melbourne, Australia and directed by long-time Chan collaborator Sammo Hung, Mr. Nice Guy also reunites Jackie with the late great Richard Norton (1950-2025), one of the few non-Asian martial arts performers able to keep up with the intense “full contact” tendencies of Hong Kong stunt work. Often regarded by fans as the last great Jackie Chan film before his brief stint in North America, Mr. Nice Guy is jam-packed with all the wall-to-wall action, eye-popping stunts, and hilarious gags we love him for.
