ABOUT THE DUMPSTER RACCOON SERIES
Dumpster Raccoon screens trashy cult classics accompanied by live performances. In a recent interview with NOW Magazine, curator Anthony Oliveira summed up the series: “Dumpster Raccoon (more…)
This HALLOWEEN season, join Dumpster Raccoon Cinema for a frightening multi-performer goth CABARET SPECTACULAR celebrating Francis Ford Coppola’s baroque horror masterpiece, BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA (1993)!!
When Jonathan Harker (hometown hero Keanu Reeves) is dispatched to Transylvania to aid in a real estate purchase for a mysterious foreign count, things get a little creepy and a lot horny as the diabolical foreigner becomes fixated on Harker’s betrothed, the angelic Mina Murray (Winona Ryder). Could Murray be the reincarnation of the love that Dracula lost so long ago? And will a cowboy, a doctor, and a playboy stop fighting over the lovely Lucy Westenra long enough to make their gay throuple work??
Not so much a movie as a feverish perfume commercial, Coppola pulls out every stop and cuts every brake line to create a sumptuous, orgiastic feast of a movie that is at once a love letter to the great classics of cinema and an audacious renovation of the Dracula myth. With staggeringly wonderful (and infamous) performances and sensuous costuming, BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA is one of the finest (and most misunderstood) classics to ever grace the Dumpster Raccoon screen.
Join Dumpster Raccoon Cinema’s rowdy queer audience and host Anthony Oliveira for this special Halloween presentation, featuring a cavalcade of spooky cabaret performances from some of the darkest stars on Toronto’s performance scene, generously sponsored by Meridian Credit Union and Hollywood Suite!
