This one’s for the Chaucer-heads – or anyone interested in watching Heath Ledger for two hours (girls, gays, and theys to the front of the line). Inspired by the story in The Canterbury Tales that shares its name, A KNIGHT‘S TALE is a jarringly anachronistic retelling of a peasant squire who overcomes his station to compete in a jousting tournament. A medieval Forrest Gump, William Thatcher (Heath Ledger) quickly becomes a star on the jousting circuit, befriending historical figures such as Geoffrey Chaucer (Paul Bettany) and Edward the Black Prince (James Purefoy), and finding love in places both high and low, along the way.
HOLD UP presents a rags-to-reins story of class consciousness and defiance of social norms, set to a soundtrack of classic rock bangers. Join us to see why A KNIGHT‘S TALE was every elder millenials favourite movie in 2001.
