Neon Dreams celebrates its 10th year (!!!) of programming with an ultra rare 35mm screening of the 1972 cult film Cisco Pike, starring Kris Kristofferson, Gene Hackman, Karen Black, and Harry Dean Stanton.

Call it an unofficial (and only a little belated) 4/20 screening, Cisco Pike stars Kristofferson in his first starring role as the titular Pike—a freewheeling musician/pot peddler who has fallen on hard times. When he gets busted by a crooked and severely unhinged narc (Gene Hackman), he’s blackmailed into selling off 100 kilos of marijuana in one weekend if he wants the charges dropped. With the help of his girlfriend (Karen Black) and drug-addled former bandmate (Harry Dean Stanton) in tow, he has no other choice but to hit the streets of L.A. with a guitar case full of grass.

Hilarious, thrilling, and appropriately laid back, this low-key crowd-pleaser works beautifully as both a ’70s precursor to Big Lebowski and Inherent Vice, and as a love letter to Los Angeles. Don’t miss your chance to see this underseen gem on the big screen.

This screening and others are made possible thanks to our wonderful sponsor Hollywood Suite.

Part of the Neon Dreams series!
