Living on an estate on the shores of Lake Geneva, Lord Byron is visited by Percy and Mary Shelley. Together with Byron’s lover Claire Clairmont, and aided by hallucinogenic substances, they devise an evening of ghoulish tales. However, when confronted by horrors, ostensibly of their own creation, it becomes difficult to tell apparition from reality.

A frantic psycho-sexual retelling of the night that the idea of FRANKENSTEIN was born, as only British maverick Ken Russell (ALTERED STATES, THE DEVILS) could conjure up. Russell’s unique adventurous style and playfully scandalous nature drags what would have been a dour Merchant-Ivory period piece into lascivious Hammer Film territory. A fever-dream of pain, lust, and the dark urges of creation, GOTHIC will stroke the impulse to not shy away from your nightmares.
