EVERYTHING IS REAL, EVERYBODY DIED.

A documentary filmmaker explores seemingly unrelated paranormal incidents connected by the legend of an ancient demon called the “Kagutaba.”

Officially unavailable outside of Japan until a few years ago, this found-footage faux-documentary garnered a cult following among adventurous horror aficionados online who had to chase down low-res rips on YouTube before they were taken down for copyright infringement. Unconventional in its approach to found footage, ignoring the tendency toward jump scares, the film focuses instead on nuanced storytelling and an impending sense of dread. The devil is in the details when it comes to this mystery, and patience is rewarded with NOROI, a chilling hidden gem we’re thrilled to finally be able to bring to a darkened cinema – Steven Landry
