Despite being critically panned upon release, director Walter Hill’s Another 48 Hrs. has aged into a grittier, meaner, and more stylized version of the original buddy cop blueprint it helped popularize. It may be louder and more chaotic, but that chaos is part of the charm—and a reflection of where action cinema was headed in the early ’90s. (SERENA WHITNEY)
