25th Anniversary Screening! 4K Restoration!

Twenty-five years ago, director Matthew Bright unleashed the sequel to his neo-exploitation dark comedy thriller FREEWAY to unsuspecting audiences. Although the first film shocked viewers with its harrowing and twisted depiction of a Little Red Riding Hood fairytale, Freeway II: Confessions of A Trickbaby makes its predecessor look like a family-friendly on-screen venture. This sequel purges (quite literally) a groteseque and grimey reimagining of Hansel & Gretel on the screen with its eclectic cast of indie darlings (such as Natasha Lyonne and Vincent Gallo) and head-scratching cameos (such as John Landis and David Alan Grier).

Recently restored in 4K (which will even challenge your viewing experience even more), this film will surely test your gag reflex with many moments of sleaze and vomit. Some may find it to be one of the most disturbing films they’ve ever witnessed, others may think this is the most hilarious movie they’ve even seen. (If you enjoyed¬†Perdita Durango,¬†then this film is up your twisted alley.)

With the first film getting a lot of attention for being a late ’90s cult classic, its time for viewers to embrace its sequel the same way. This film is not for the easily offended. You have been warned! (SERENA WHITNEY)
