Details
We said goodbye to Carl Weathers this year. He is integral to the Rocky journey and to this program, as Apollo Creed and Chubbs from Happy Gilmore. Director Adam Wingard once said “nobody wants to watch Rocky and have it be about Apollo,” but he neglected to mention that the reason that Rocky is interesting is because of Apollo. It’s Apollo’s drive and example that drove Rocky to want to go the distance. Also, it is Carl Weathers’ creation of Apollo that makes him beloved by many, at times even more so than Rocky. So as a farewell to the talented and charismatic actor/director, we revisit this installment of the Rocky franchise. where he shines both literally and figuratively. Come for the Italian Stallion, stay for The Count of Monte Fisto!
Part of the Paid In Sweat series!
