PRESENTED BY REX VIPER! 30th Anniversary Screening!
Round one – FIGHT!
Are you ready, Toronto? REX VIPER – the rock band who slam together badass movie soundtracks, video game music, kickin’ hard rock, retro ‘80s covers and mash-ups to get you pumped, featuring James Rolfe (Cinemassacre, The Angry Video Game Nerd) and our very own James Harding (Dragon Sounds, Villainest) – are coming to Toronto to play a show with The Cybertronic Spree (Aug 23rd at the Rec Room!), but first making a special detour to the Revue to host a 30th anniversary screening of peak 90s cinematic super battle excess – STREET FIGHTER: THE MOVIE!
Based on the massively popular video game franchise, this adrenaline-pumping adventure stars martial arts superstar Jean-Claude Van Damme as Colonel Guile, who leads an international strike force against the mad General M. Bison (Raul Julia, in his final film role!). M. Bison, who has hatched an evil plan for world domination, takes dozens of relief workers hostage and gives the world only 72 hours to respond to his twisted demands. Guile must find the captives and confront Bison in an electrifying battle for the fate of the free world. Along the way Guile recruits intelligence officer Cammy (Kylie Minogue), reporter and martial arts expert Chun-Li (Ming-Na Wen), two young con men Ken and Ryu, sumo wrestler E. Honda, and the rest of the Street Fighter 2 crew!
REX VIPER will introduce the film, do a Q&A, and premiere some special surprises for the very first time (if we’re lucky)!
And catch REX VIPER performing live the following night – on Friday August 23rd at the Rec Room – with The Cybertronic Spree!
