WINNER OF DRAMATIC CAGE!
Ā
The film that Cage declared āmy favorite film Iāve ever made,ā PIG features Cage as Rob Feld, a reclusive truffle hunter taking refuge from his former life as a celebrated Portland chef in the wilderness of Oregon. When his beloved and trusted forager pig is kidnapped, Feld braces for a return to urbanity and the depraved food scene that he scorned to save her.Ā
Ā
Playing off Odysseus, Cageās portrayal of a traumatized prodigal chef was critically praised as some of his best work in years, proving that the Oscar-winner was not unlike a finely aged cheeseāsimply better with time. PIG also proved Cageās penchant for taking risks with first-time directorsāin this case, the talented Michael Sarnoskiāand elevating micro-budgeted independent films. The budget was so low, that they couldnāt afford a trained pig, and Cageās co-star(s) bit him several times. Despite that, the chemistry between Cage and his pig is finely wrought. Imagine a film that combines JOHN WICK, FIGHT CLUB, and FXās THE BEAR, that will also leave you in tears. PIG is simply that unique.Ā
