We Really Like Her!: LITTLE WOMEN (2019)

Put on your petticoat and pack some Kleenex because this holiday season We Really Like Her! invites you to revisit Greta Gerwig’s beloved reworking of Little Women. 

Based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel about family and finding your purpose, this 2019 award winner features a star-studded cast that includes Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh, Emma Watson, Eliza Scanlan, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep and Laura Dern. Once again, we follow the March sisters as they grow up together and apart in the late 1800s. 

While the film covers many familiar plot points (see: Jo’s haircut, Amy’s fiery revenge plot), Gerwig’s version rewrites certain sections to reflect Alcott’s actual life and desires for the characters. In doing so, the Oscar-nominated director of Barbie breathes new life into an oft-adapted tale and extends its legacy as an essential feminist text.
