This June, We Really Like Her! invites you to celebrate Pride Month in style with a 30th anniversary screening of Beeban Kidron’s forever fabulous To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar.
Follow along as New York drag icons Vida (Patrick Swayze) and Noxeema (Wesley Snipes) take a road trip to LA with Chi-Chi (John Leguizamo), a cheeky young upstart, in tow. When their Cadillac DeVille breaks down in a small town, these larger-than-life personalities join forces with a handful of sweet, yet meek local women (including Blythe Danner, Beth Grant and an especially excellent Stockard Channing) in an effort to put its misogynistic population in its place.
Fuelled by the irresistible chemistry between the three leads, To Wong Foo is the definition of a joy ride. This film is not just a celebration of drag culture — it is an ode to femininity in all its shapes and forms. And as queer folks and women face ongoing threats to their autonomy, it is a friendly reminder that we are stronger when we work together.
