About the Revue
The Revue Cinema is a not-for-profit, community run cinema in Toronto’s Roncesvalles
neighbourhood. The Revue opened in 1912, making it the oldest operating cinema in Toronto.
Over the last several years, the Revue has become the go-to venue for event-driven cinema
and has been named Toronto’s Best Independent Film Venue by NOW Magazine readers for
three years in a row. The Revue connects the community through film, arts and culture.


Assistant Manager Overview
Reporting to the General Manager, the role of the Assistant Manager is to ensure successful
daily cinema operations. They are responsible for overseeing movie screenings, special events
and cinema rentals during their shift.

Responsibilities
● Supervises staff along with volunteers and ensures that customers are served efficiently
and to highest standard
● Coordinates with staff, projectionists, programmers and renters to ensure events run
smoothly, including some tech set-up (mics, etc.)
● Performs all keyholder and cash handling opening and closing duties, inc. nightly
financial reconciliation and tracking petty cash
● Ensures cinema is clean, presentable & safe at all times for customers and staff
● Sells tickets and memberships, checks-in online tickets
● Organizes lines of ticket holders and ensures screenings start on time and stay on
schedule
● Ensures projection booth is functioning properly for the day’s screenings, troubleshoots
any issues
● Acts as on-site point of contact, from resolving customer concerns to enforcing
emergency procedures
● Ensures all health & safety, along with COVID-related procedures are being followed
● Jumps in wherever needed, whether at box office or concessions, ushering or cleaning
● Maintains accurate financial records and communication with management
● Monitors all product levels, expiry dates and wastage
● Responds to daily messages and keeps office paperwork organized
● Updates website and creates event plans
● Plans and oversees daily goals and tasks for staff
● Maintains knowledge of Revue programming and events
● Other tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications
● Previous movie theatre experience preferred, particularly box office experience
● Experience with A/V equipment is an asset
● Experience in a supervisory role is preferred
● Previous keyholder and cash reconciliation experience is preferred
● Smart Serve and First Aid certified
● Event coordination experience is an asset
● Strong initiative and leadership skills, and able to motivate others
● Able to stay calm under pressure and troubleshoot issues as they arise
● Professional, positive and courteous attitude
● Enthusiasm for film and events
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
● Able to multitask and prioritize tasks

Schedule
This is a part-time, hourly position, requiring a minimum of two shifts per week, with the
opportunity to work extra shifts as well. Schedule includes shifts on evenings, weekends and
holidays. Must be available to start in the first week of August.

Compensation
$17.25 per hour, plus tips.

Position Title: Concessions Staff

Concessions Staff Overview
Reporting to the Assistant Manager on duty, the Concessions Staff provides excellent customer
service while also maintaining the cleanliness of the theatre.


Responsibilities
● Prepares and serves a variety of concessions items quickly and efficiently
● Serves alcoholic beverages according to Smart Serve standards
● Accurately processes cash, debit and credit transactions
● Maintains an organized and presentable concession stand and handles all equipment
safely and properly
● Thoroughly and frequently cleans the concessions, lobby, theatre and bathroom areas
● Greets and directs customers through the theatre
● Follows all health & safety along with COVID procedures
● Explains membership benefits and sells tickets as needed
● Maintains knowledge of Revue programming and events
● Other tasks as assigned by management
Qualifications
● Previous movie theatre experience an asset
● Food service and cash handling experience required
● Experience working in a fast-paced environment an asset
● Smart Serve certified
● Strong communication and customer service skills
● Self-motivated, with strong initiative
● Professional, positive and courteous attitude
● Enthusiasm for film and events
● Able to multitask and prioritize tasks
● Team oriented

Schedule
This is a part-time, hourly position, requiring a minimum of two shifts per week, with the
opportunity to work extra shifts as well. Schedule includes shifts on evenings, weekends and
holidays. Must be available to start in the first week of August.


Compensation
$15 per hour, plus tips.
