With a live performance by DRAGON SOUNDS – featuring Hard Ticket to Hawaii soundtrack highlights and more!
On Christmas Day 2013, I received two life-changing gifts. One was the birth of my first child. The other was the Andy Sidaris DVD set “Girls, Guns, and G-Strings”. My first ever film as a new parent was thus HARD TICKET TO HAWAII, and this magnificently silly and gleefully entertaining babes n’ bazookas classic will forever have a hard ticket to my heart. (David Bertrand)
HARD TICKET TO HAWAII – like all beachy brawlers by b-flick action auteur Andy Sidaris – features a tough and sexy squad of super babes and super studs – led by Playboy icon Dona Speir and “Bold and the Beautiful” soap star Ronn Moss (also the bassist of Player of “Baby Come Back” fame!) – who are forced to defend Hawaii’s Molokai Island from diamond smugglers, narcotics slingers and a skateboarding maniac with an inflatable sex doll. If you know this film for only one reason, it’s the notorious frisbee scene, where a machine gun toting lackey named “Shades” can’t resist a little friendly competitive disc-toss, but gets a knife-laced frisbee to the neck! Add a deadly radioactive toilet snake and bazookas galore and you’ve got yourself a party.
HARD TICKET TO HAWAII is one of the all-time audience ragers – but what ultimately makes this film timeless is the great interplay between leading ladies Donna (Dona Speir) and Taryn (Hope Marie Carlton), pilots for Molokai Cargo but also secret operatives for a shadowy “Agency”. Though the camera certainly doesn’t shy away from their bikini bods (the gals have naked work meetings in the Jacuzzi), Donna and Taryn are tough, resourceful and way more charming, funny and endearing then you’d expect – and make this a sunny day Hawaiian action spectacular of joyful lunacy.
